Guwahati, Nov 3: Power tariff will go up in the State with effect from this month, following a go-ahead by the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission.

For low transmission (LT) consumers below 30 kW Jeevandhara and domestic categories the hike will be Rs 0.05 per unit, while other categories will be around Rs 0.30 per unit. For high transmission (HT) consumers above 20 kW, it is Rs 0.30 per unit.

APDCL had filed a petition before the commission seeking approval for staggered recovery of accumulated fuel and power purchase price adjustment surcharge (FPPPAS) pertaining to the financial year 2026-27.

During the FY 2026-27, variations in power purchase costs had resulted in accumulation of FPPPAS for the five months from April 2026 to August 2026, amounting to approximately Rs 156 crore, excluding supplementary bills.

APDCL had submitted a five-month staggered recovery schedule from November 2026 to March 2027.
